Furthur plans for first ever tour

Former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh are gearing up for a month-long tour throughout the U.S. as their new band “Furthur.” The group also includes Jeff Chimenti, John Kadlecik, Jay Lane and Joe Russo.

Furthur was formed in 2009 after Weir and Lesh played together for the first time in four years (since the Grateful Dead split). A few months later, the duo announced their band. Their debut performance was in September 2009 in California. They followed that performance by a handful of dates and live rehearsal sessions, but their 2010 tour will be the first (hopefully of many) for the band.

The tour kicks off on Friday, Feb. 5 in Florida and runs throughout the U.S. before wrapping up on Monday, March 3 in Oregon.

Added fall tour dates for Bob Weir and RatDog

Even though Bob Weir, the rock legend and co-founder of Grateful Dead, wasn’t originally scheduled to tour with his band, RatDog, after Sept. 6, the group is still chugging along.

It looks like Weir and RatDog will be performing three more times this month: September 18, 19 and 20 in Oakland, California.

Then they have a few dates in October to tend to: Oct. 16 and 17 at The Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, PA; Oct. 19 and 20 at The Grand Ballroom in New York, NY; and October 22, 23 and 24 at The Beacon Theatre in New York, NY.

Bob Weir and RatDog tack October shows onto outing

Bob Weir and RatDog recently expanded their summer show into the Fall, with seven shows in three venues in the Northeast.

The jaunt will kick off October 16th, Weir’s birthday, and the 17th,  at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, PA.  On October 19-20th, they will perform at the Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom, and fron October 22- 24th, they will play the Beacon Theatre.

Later this month, the jam band offset of the Grateful Dead is performing in New Hampshire, and in August  and September they will be touring the West Coast.

The band just finished up a two-night stint in Jim Thorpe, PA at Penn’s Peak.  Earlier in the week, they performed in Rochester, NY and closed the set with “St. Stephen,” “The Eleven” and “Turn on your Lovelight.”

Bob Weir & RatDog Head Out

Bob Weir shows no signs of stopping to take a vacation this summer.  After a much anticipated reunion tour with the remaining living members of The Dead this past spring, Weir is ready to take to the road again with his other long-time musical collaboration, RatDog.

The tour will take the band coast-to-coast through the end of September 2009,  starting July 5th with a show in Columbus, OH, with fellow blues rockers The Black Crowes.  Some of the dates will be opened by the band MOE.

One of the coolest stops on the tour is at The Gathering of the Vibes Music Festival, July 23-26, 2009, in Bridgeport, CT. Check it out - who couldn’t use some good vibes?!
