Furthur extends U.S. tour through the fall

Former Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir have decided to continue touring into the fall as their new band, Furthur.

Their original tour was scheduled to wrap up on Aug. 14 at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival, but have extended the tour into late November.

The tour’s new leg kicks off with a two-night performance in Eugene, Ore. on Sept. 16-17 and runs through Nov. 20-21 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Following their sweep along the West Coast, Furthur will be playing three nights at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colo. from Sept. 24-26, followed by gigs in Minneapolis’ Northrop Auditorium on Nov. 8.; the Stephen’s Auditorium in Ames, Iowa, on Nov. 9; and the St. Louis Chaifetz Arena on Nov. 11.

Furthur plans for first ever tour

Former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh are gearing up for a month-long tour throughout the U.S. as their new band “Furthur.” The group also includes Jeff Chimenti, John Kadlecik, Jay Lane and Joe Russo.

Furthur was formed in 2009 after Weir and Lesh played together for the first time in four years (since the Grateful Dead split). A few months later, the duo announced their band. Their debut performance was in September 2009 in California. They followed that performance by a handful of dates and live rehearsal sessions, but their 2010 tour will be the first (hopefully of many) for the band.

The tour kicks off on Friday, Feb. 5 in Florida and runs throughout the U.S. before wrapping up on Monday, March 3 in Oregon.
